I received an email a couple of weeks ago saying I won a Goodreads giveaway. I immediately opened the email and it said I won a copy of Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. I was beyond ecstatic and so blessed because I would’ve never believed I would win in any giveaways, especially a book that a lot of people had already entered for. As soon as I got it from the mail, I immediately began reading the book and so far, I’m falling in love. I haven’t finished it yet but I am being compelled and enchanted. But this is not the main point of this post: whenever I read a really good book with an incredible story and addicting characters that make me what to meet them in real life, my heart decides to split in half and have a mind of its own.

One side of my heart wants to keep reading the book, to find out what happens next and who falls in love with who. I just can’t stop reading and I just want to know more. This is usually the case with a series. For example, I was obsessed with the Kate Daniels series and I didn’t stop reading until I was at the seventh book. I know that if I keep on reading the book, I have another book to read. If I finish the first book, the second book is right there and available to me to start where I left off from. Usually, whenever I read books, this side of my heart wins.

On the other hand, the other side of my heart tells me to stop and take a break because it knows the book will end and nothing will follow after. That is what is happening to me right now as I’m reading Wintersong. I looked up on Goodreads and found out it has no sequel. I really want to read it and finish the book but once I finish it, the story ends. The beautiful movie playing in my head stops, the characters stop acting and the story ends. It’s bittersweet and my heart can’t take the pain. This usually tends to happen with books that have no sequel or books that have sequels but those sequels won’t be released until a decade later. So my heart is telling me to take a break because my heart can’t take no more awesomeness. I just want the story to never end, is that too much to ask for?

Now, I’m kind of getting off topic but have you ever read a book that just makes your heartache, like physically and not in your heads? Well, I have and I rarely have this feeling unless the story has a heart-wrenching scene or I have connected to the book in some sort of way. My heart just aches for the characters and I think I could feel their pain as they pain in the story. I sometimes forget that these characters aren’t real and then I begin to feel sad because they aren’t real…Anyways, I really love and enjoy reading books. I just wish the story in some of my favorite books would never end.

Extra stuff I’m adding onto this post:

  • If you haven’t checked out Wintersong, here is the link: Wintersong (Disclaimer: I’m not promoting this book or been asked by the author or Goodreads to promote this book. I’m just really enjoying this book. Also, it won’t be out until February of 2017 😉

Hello world, here is a very late update of my life. I’ve been incredibly busy with being lazy. Just kidding, I was working like crazy, trying not to procrastinate on homework and trying to get my life and faith together. But here is a quick update on what I’ve been up to in the last couple of months:

I finally conquered my slight fear of roller coasters during my day at Valleyscare. I was not really fond of scary rides that made my stomach feel all, you know, that feeling but after spending that whole day and night at Valleyscare, I had to toughen up and face my fears. My friends and I had the fast pass where you could skip the long lines and be the first person to get on. I rode the Xtreme Swing, the Power Tower, all the roller coasters and the Steel Venom and I have to say, I really enjoy riding on roller coasters now.

I finally watched the anime movie of the year, Kimi no Na wa and I had to agree that this was one, if not the best anime movie ever. After watching it, I instantly fell in love and began obsessing. The art, the soundtrack and the story. I’ve downloaded the entire album from iTunes, composed by the incredible Radwimps. I’ve heard a lot about Makoto Shinkai and his works but I never watched any of his movies but I had to watch this one and I’m really glad I did. At first, I really wanted to stop watching it but I kept at it and at the end of the movie, I was bawling. My eyes and nose was crying, my mascara running down my cheeks and I had of pile of tissues sitting on my desk from all the snot and tears my eyes and nose produced. It was so beautiful. Here is a link to all the information and the trailer: Kimi no Na wa.

I went to NYC on October 14th to the 16th and I had a lot to say about it, tons of pros and cons. The pros about NYC was how diverse the city was and how you could exit from one subway entrance and end up surrounded by a different culture or atmosphere. I also loved the shopping and totally bought a ton of anime figurines. They only thing I regretted was not buying more. The food was great (but expensive) and I enjoyed exploring Chinatown. But NYC was similar to Chicago and I didn’t really like Chicago. It was busy with people and traffic, everyone was crazy when crossing the roads and I lost a hundred years of my life just by being two inches away from another car when driving through the city. It was too fast-paced and my energy went from a hundred to five in a second. I don’t regret going but I remembered being really stressed out.

Before I write anymore, I honestly don’t care for politics and really don’t care who our president is and has done. I only care about my family and whatever is going on in my life, which may sound heartless and whatever but I can’t change that. Everyone is free to his or her own opinion and I don’t really care if you don’t agree with me or my thoughts because we’re all different and think differently. Now lets get right into it – I never really paid attention to the news or any politics until the week before elections and I just wanted to get everything over with. Of course both candidates have their pros and cons but I just voted for Clinton because I’m a woman and she’s democratic. I did a little research on Trump and I honestly had to say he scared the shit out of me. That was another reason I voted for Clinton. And now, post-election, the US exploded into a flood of hate and racism and discrimination and negativity. After Trump became the president, I realized how far way I strayed from God and how I really needed him back in my life. It was a reality check and I really needed Jesus. I prayed and praised and read the Bible and I finally realized the most important thing to me, in my life: this world is only temporary, the world could hate me, the world could judge me, anyone could judge me, call me names, curse me but I don’t need to care or react to it because in the end, God is the final judge. He’s the only one who I need to think about, the only thing that matters, to wait for, to fear, and to love. This world don’t matter, God does. So the world could hate, Trump could burn this whole country down, but my faith won’t be shaken because I have God by my side. Whom shall I fear? Anyways…I’m glad the elections are over. Like I said, everyone has their own opinions and thoughts and whatever (good for you) but I don’t care. It’s done and over with. Next.

Since I made a list of the top 200 anime I’ve watched, started and dropped, in another post here, this time, instead of making a list to the top 200 manga’s, I decided to do make a list of the top 500 manga’s from myanimelist.net. This is going to be the list from the top rated manga’s only and I’m honestly not sure how many I’ve even read. In order from number 1 to 500, here is a list of the top rated manga’s I’ve read, and started but not finished. Since most of the manga’s are not completed, I will organized it at manga’s I’m caught up with and manga’s I’ve started but have not finished. Enjoy! (I highly recommend them all).

October is going to be a very busy month for me, traveling wise and money wise. First, I am going to Valleyscare with my friends this year and I am very excited. I’m not the biggest fan of scary stuff but I do enjoy the occasional scary movies. I have never been to a haunted house or hay ride before and I am wondering how I would react to this event. I am beyond excited and a little bit nervous but I can’t wait.

Next, I am going to NYC for my sister’s birthday and I know that I am going to be wasting a lot of money there (crying right now). My sister is turning 26 or was it 27…? Anyways, it’s her birthday and she wanted to celebrate it in NYC. The tickets was cheap(ish) and we were all free. We’re only spending the weekend there and I am beyond excited to go. I began planning for this trip since August and we’re going in October. All I know is that I’m going to be eating more than my weight over there, partying it up at some bars, buying some anime and Japanese goodies, and of course, buying some Asian skincare stuff because that’s what I always buy.

Of course we can’t forget about Halloween. My church is having a small carnival/Halloween night for the little kids at my church and I and a couple of other youth members are in charge of it. I’m supposed to come up with some kid-friendly games and prizes and I haven’t got a clue where to start. I’m not very creative and I steal most of my games from Running Man, but since they’re kids, I can’t really use the games they play and apply it to this carnival night. They won’t be able to play it.

Anyways, this month is going to be busy, and adding to all of this is school and work. But all in all, I am happy and blessed to be going on these many adventures and excited to get out of my comfort zone. As my family knows, I would rather stay home and never interact with people but traveling will help me, hopefully. Wish me luck!

Fall is just around the corner and the weather is getting cooler. Here in MN, it’s still hot but you can feel the fall vibe closing in. Out of all the seasons, I love Fall for it’s long-sleeves, pumpkin spice everything, a house warmed by the fire from the fire place, cozy days reading, and fashion. Fall is my favorite season to wear a variety of different clothing pieces and I love the struggle to stay warm and still look good. Here are some of my fall necessities that I will be wearing.

-Black Leggings: Fall and leggings go hand-in-hand. You can wear a long sweater and put on some black leggings and boots and you’re good to go. The weather is not too cold but chilly enough to wear your favorite leggings.

 (picture from yesstyle)

Long Cardigans: When the stores are selling cardigans, you know fall is coming. I love wearing long and thick cardigans over a simple tee and some jeans or over a dress and tights. You can dress it up or dress it down.

 (picture from yesstyle)

-Brown Boots: Brown boots are an essential in fall fashion. Brown boots come in all shapes in sizes, from cute booties to knee-high faux leather ones. Wear them over black leggings or a pair of jeans and you’re ready for a night in town.

 (picture from yesstyle)

-Sweaters: I love wearing sweaters during fall and mostly during winter. I enjoy the feeling to warmth whenever I wear sweaters. Sweaters go well with a cup of tea or coffee.

 (picture from yesstyle)

-Faux Leather Jackets: Fall is too hot for big thick jackets and too cold for no jackets but a faux leather jacket provide just the right amount of warmth for those chilly days. You can wear them with a dress to dress it up or with something simple and dress it down.

 (picture from yesstyle)

Columbia Sweaters: I love Columbia sweaters because its warm and easy to style with. I personally own a couple sweaters and wear them during fall and winter. You can wear them during those lazy days or out with some friends. I’m sure everyone has at least one, right?

I’m not sure if this is going to be a permanent thing, but I like sharing some of my short stories. I’m not the best writer ever but I have a lot of ideas and imagination that I have to write down and turn it into a story. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with this story. Enjoy!

Lillian smiled as she took in the scene before her. The vastness of the world, the different shades of greens of the trees, the clear blue skies, the whiteness of the clouds and the warmth of the sun’s rays brought joy to Lillian. Sitting on a sturdy branch on top of the hundred years old tree, Lillian closed her eyes and felt the cool breeze dancing against her milky white skin and listened to the melodic chirping of the birds. Her long black hair, free from her braids, softly flowed with the wind. The forest below was calm yet mysterious with its shadows.

“Come down, Lillian, Father wants us home before sunset and I’m hungry.” Sophie whined below.

Sophie’s voice carried with the wind and reached Lillian’s ears. With a long sigh, she made the journey down. With sure and strong hands, Lillian slowly made her way down, stopping here and then to smell the flowers that decorated the branches, and greet the working insects climbing up the tree. Suddenly, something appeared before her eyes. Lillian stopped to look at the tiny person, flying with tiny wings just ten feet in front of her.

She was about the height of an apple, with short and soft brown hair, her eyes were slanted and green, ears pointed and sharp, body tiny and delicate, and her wings fast and beautiful. She had on a dress made out of leaves and twigs. She noticed me staring at her, shock registering in her eyes, and bowed slightly at me.

“Princess.” She said.

Lillian, startled, nodded in return and smiled as the tiny person flew away and vanished. Lillian breathed in wonder and remembered what the villagers and stories called them, faeries. Excitement shot through her as she continued her journey down from the tree. It gotten darker, as the sun was just about to set, and the air cooled around her. Sophie stood next to the tree, looking around frantically and holding hers and Lillian’s basket of wild berries. Finally, with one jump, Lillian reached the ground floor. With a sigh of relief, Sophie grabbed Lillian’s hand and dragged her out of the forest.

The two girls made the journey home, each carrying their basket of berries and other edible goodies.

“Father hates it when you climb trees, he says it makes your beautiful dresses dirty.” Sophie said and ate a berry from her basket.

Lillian rolled her eyes and ate a berry from her own basket. “Father does not need to worry about my dresses. I can take care of my dresses just fine.”

Sophie sighed and shook her head. “I heard that the King and Queen is visiting our village three moons from now. I wonder if Prince Jacob and Prince Henry will also come along.” Sophie sighed with admiration.

Lillian shook her head at Sophie and grabbed another berry. “You and boys, are they really that fascinating? I wonder what goes on in their mind when they see those ladies giggling and fluttering their eyelashes. I refuse to be one of them. I would rather get eaten by a three-headed dragon than wear bejeweled dresses and flutter my eyes at those princes.” Lillian said and shuddered with disgust.

Sophie laughed and pulled Lillian along. “I’m sure the dragon would spit you back out because you taste horrible. It’s not like they’re visiting for marriage,” Lillian shuddered at the word.

“I heard from Mother that they are looking for someone special, someone with magick.” Sophie whispered the last word.

“You know magick doesn’t exist, especially since the King banished magick a long time ago. Magick is gone forever. I heard why they’re really coming to our village from Paul. The Head Villager’s wife finally had their baby boy and they are here to congratulate them since they know each other so well. I’m sure they’re not here to look for someone with magick.” Lillian said and strode forward.

Sophie laughed. “I know; I was just trying to scare you.”

“Don’t talk about it no more or you’ll get in trouble.” Lillian warned Sophie and she nodded.

Sophie stared at her younger sister in adoration. Lillian was a very beautiful girl. She had long black hair that was always braided and rested against her back but now flowed gently in the wind. Her face was flawless and milky white, always dewy and seemed to glow. She was skinny and lean, always full of energy and life. Her eyes were blue and if Sophie looked close enough, she could see gold in them. Sophie was always jealous of her eyes that were so full of life and happiness.

Nonetheless, Sophie loved her little sister with all her heart and always watched out for her. Lillian was a free-spirited child, who climbed trees and made friends with every animal she encountered. She radiated beauty and friendliness. She was stubborn, always looking for an adventure, and fearless. She may look like a ten-year old child but she had an essence of something otherworldly.

They finally reached their small little cottage and they saw their Father standing by the door. Sophie smiled and ran up to him, giving him a hug. Their Father, George, was six feet tall, with dark brown hair, a straight nose, a strong jaw, and dark brown eyes. Everyone said Sophie was the spitting image of her father, but with longer hair. Their mother, Julianne, was fairer, with long blonde hair, a fair complexion, and light brown eyes.

“Father, we’ve arrived with berries and before sunset.” Sophie said and showed him the basket.

George looked into the basket and nodded. “Good job Sophie. Why don’t you bring in Lillian’s basket as well, I have to talk with your sister for a while.” George said and turned towards his youngest child.

Lillian stood by the fence door and handed the basket to Sophie. Sophie looked at Lillian’s unreadable face and went inside. George gazed at his daughter’s long black hair, then her icy blue eyes and then to her face before walking towards her. George knew she did not have any resemblance to him, his wife, and their kids but he accepted her as his daughter and everyone loved her.

“Did you go into the forest again?” George said as he looked at Lillian.

She looked back with unwavering eyes and nodded. “I did, Father. It was like the forest was calling me and I had to answer. I’m sorry.”

George sighed but nodded. “Promise me you won’t go in there again. The Royal Highnesses are arriving tomorrow and I need you to stay out of trouble,” After a long pause, George asked. “Anything else happened in the forest?”

Lillian opened her mouth, as if to speak, but closed it. She shuffled her feet before answering him. “As I was climbing down the tree, I saw a faerie.” She whispered.

George furrowed his brows and bent down to her level. “Don’t ever speak of them, ever. Bad things happen when we speak of those monsters.” George looked around, scanning his surroundings before resting them on her. “Saying their names is like inviting them inside our homes.” George warned.

Lillian opened her mouth to object but nodded as she saw the seriousness in her Father’s eyes. “Why do you think they still exist? Are they really dangerous?” Lillian asked and picked a leaf off from her dress.

George sighed and petted her head. “I don’t know, Lilly-bear, but let’s not talk about them, okay?” George said and led them inside the house.

That night, they ate chicken soup and berry pie for dessert. Lillian’s two older brother, Tomas and Gregory, told the family funny stories about their classmates and Sophie told them about her sewing class. Lillian told her story about catching fish barehanded by the river and everyone laughed at the absurdity. As the night grew later, George and Mary shooed their children off to bed and they also retired for the night.

Lillian laid wide awake, staring outside the window at the moon, while the moon stared back at her. Lillian thought back to the fairy and suddenly remembered what she told her. The faerie addressed Lillian as a princess. Lillian smiled and snuggled closer to her big sister and fell asleep.

Sophie woke up before dawn and looked at the empty space next to her. She sighed and got up, walking outside to wash her face. Her mother was already making breakfast and her older brothers was chopping wood outside.

“Where’s Lillian?” Sophie asked as she handed her mother another egg.

Mary shrugged. “Probably playing outside or with her Father.” Mary said and shook her head. Sophie laughed and began working on the dough.

Lillian stared at the dog chained to a pole and frowned. “What are you doing here, all chained up, Ferris?” Lillian asked the dog.

He gave a bark and happily wagged his tail back and forth. Lillian sighed and grabbed his collar and began unchaining him. After freeing Ferris, Lillian walked on and with a simple command, Ferris followed after her. Lillian walked through the small town and waved at everyone she saw and knew. Grandma Harriet waved and gave her a morning biscuit and some meat. Lillian said her thanks, ate the biscuit and threw the meat to Ferris, who happily ate it up. They finally reached their destination and Lillian sighed.

“I know Father told me not to go in there, but I need to feel some dirt in my toes and the fresh morning dew on my face.” She turned to the dog. “Ferris, will you accompany me into this enchanting forest and keep me out of trouble?” She asked and smiled.

Ferris barked and licked her bare legs as she nodded and marched forward. Lillian took off her shoes as she wandered through the forest. The dirt was soft and cool, the air light and dewy. She closed her eyes and felt content with the world. All of a sudden, she felt a shift in the air. It didn’t feel dangerous, just foreign, like it didn’t belong here. She opened her eyes and stared at the man in front of her.

He was really tall, taller than anyone she knew, with dark brown hair that was long enough to be pulled back into a small ponytail. His eyes were gold and a little slanted, his skin pale and flawless. He was full of muscles and strong, a body built like a warrior, and he was dressed in all black, his demeanor full of confidence. He was handsome and beautiful, like nothing of this earth. He stared at the girl and his eyes widened in recognition. He bowed low, and gave her a warm welcome.

“Princess, what a beautiful morning it is to be shared with. I am honored to be in your humbled presence.” He said.

Lillian stared at the man and returned the bow with her own. He frowned but said nothing. “I-I’m not sure who you are but I am not a princess.” Lillian said and gave him a small smile.

The man chuckled and studied the girl in front of him. “My apologies, Princess. My name is Lucas Greenwood and I am a knight to the land of Scarlet.”

Lillian smiled at Lucas. “Nice to meet you Lucas, my name is Lillian Greene. What are you doing out here by yourself?” Lillian asked him.

For some reason, Lillian felt happy and content talking to him, like this was normal. She had never seen him before but something inside of her knew he was someone safe.

“I should be asking the same question to you, Princess. It’s dangerous to be here alone,” Lucas looked around with alert eyes before resting them on the beautiful and young human. He stuck out a hand towards her and smiled in invitation. “Would you like to visit Scarlet with me?” Lucas asked Lillian.

Tempted, Lillian hesitantly lifted her hand out but startled when Ferris barked. Lillian looked down at the dog growling at Lucas and shook her head. “I don’t think I should.” She said.

Lucas nodded understanding and stepped back to bow at her again. “Then another time, Princess.” He said and vanished.

Lillian shook in excitement and ran all the way home. She burst through the front door, Ferris hot on her heels, and smiled at her family. Before she could say anything, her mother yelled at her. “Lillian Greene, where in two moons were you? You almost missed breakfast and I had to have your brothers go out and look for you.” Her mother scolded.

Lillian frowned and shrugged. “I took Ferris for a walk and got distracted.” She said and pointed to the dog who licked her finger in return.

Mary sighed and shook her head. She knew her daughter was a bit different, adventurous and always curious. Mary set a bowl of oatmeal on the table and nodded at her youngest child. “I understand, Lillian. Now go wash up and get ready for breakfast. Today is going to be a busy day preparing for the Royal Highnesses.” Her mother said and went back to her cooking.

Lillian went back outside and washed her face and hands before looking for her older siblings. Lillian found Sophie in the garden gathering some tomatoes. “Sophie, can I tell you something and promise not to tell Mother or Father?” Lillian asked.

Sophie looked up from her work and nodded. “I promise.” With a smile, Lillian told Sophie about her encounter with the beautiful man. Sophie gasped in horror. “You promised Father not to go back. What if the man took you and never let you come back home? You’re only ten years, who knows what he’ll do to you.” Sophie scolded and frowned at her younger sister.

“He didn’t seem dangerous at all. He was very nice and a perfect gentleman. Don’t worry, I promise not to go back in the forest until the Royal Highnesses leave in a couple moons.”

Sophie sighed and nodded. “Fine, help me get some tomatoes.”

For the rest of the day, the whole village prepared for the visit. All the women began cooking and making large meals extravagant for royalty. The men put up decorations and made the village colorful and livelier. The children gathered wood, berries and other treasures to keep out of the adult’s way. Sophie, Lillian and their mother went to town to go dress shopping, to Lillian’s horror. Hours and hours of finding the perfect dress, they finally left the shop and walked home.

“That was the most boring day of my life.” Lillian sighed out. “I would rather stay home and sew with Sophie than go dress shopping again.”

Mary chuckled at her daughter and laid a hand on her cheek. “Oh, beautiful daughter. You amuse me so much. You barely wear dresses at home and it makes me so happy to buy you new ones. Now you better wear it when the Royal Highnesses come tomorrow.” She warned. Lillian reluctantly nodded and followed her mother and her older sister home.

As they got ready for bed that night, Lillian laid on her side and stared out the window. The moon was shining bright and seemed to cover her with its light. Closing her eyes, his image came in her mind and she committed into her memory. Their was something familiar about him that she couldn’t figure out but she decided that she was going to find out.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (picture from myanimelist.net)

Myanimelist.net, to me, is a helpful tool for me to figure out what anime’s are coming out next season, finding out which voice actors are voicing my favorite characters, finding an opening or ending in an anime or just finding an anime to watch. On this website, they have a Top Anime list that is ordered by it’s rating. I am going to list, out of the 200 top rated anime (including anime movies), what anime I’ve watched and completed, watched but have not completed, and anime’s that I’ve watched but dropped. In order from the first to the two hundredth, enjoy!
